Monster Squad was a live-action Saturday-morning kid's show, in color, about a night watchman in a wax museum who could summon the resident monsters to help him fight crimes. Monster Squad had the same flavor of other shows airing around that time (Bugaloos, Electra Woman, Ghostbusters, and other Krofft shows). Host Rip Taylor introduced a variety of contestant-types -- some sexy, some gross. There was a talent competition, with plenty of off-key singers and off-beat acts and a swimsuit competition, which, curiously, always seemed to favor the fat contestants. The winner received $1.98 and a tacky crown. Frequent celebrity panelists included Jaye P. Morgan, Jamie Farr, Louis Nye, Marty Allen, and The Unknown Comic (Murray Langston).
